Private Giving

Proudly different, Melbourne Queer Film Festival screens the best of local and international LGBTIQ-themed films from across the world to Melbourne audiences every March. Each year we screen more than 120 feature and short films at Melbourne’s Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI), Cinema Nova and Kino Cinemas, along with a program of parties, panels, workshops and discussions.

MQFF educates, challenges and entertains by delivering a curated program of LGBTIQ-themed film content.  We stimulate and encourage discussion of LGBTIQ and film issues through panels and Q&As. We support queer filmmaking through advocacy and filmmaker awards, industry days and programs.

A curated festival the size of MQFF takes considerable planning and resources. As a not-for-profit organisation, MQFF is staffed by a small committed team and supported by extraordinary volunteers. MQFF has consistently delivered a world-class event, and as a registered charity relies on the support of private donors, community and corporate sponsors.

The Sweethearts private giving program has been developed to enhance the Melbourne Queer Film Festival's capacity to engage audiences with Australia’s longest running LGBTIQ film festival with donations going directly to film programming and operations.

Festival Sweethearts belong to a unique group of engaged film enthusiasts with insider access to the Festival. As a Sweetheart you are supporting the LGBTIQ community and the arts in Melbourne, and it is expected that our Sweethears uphold the Festival's values of: striving for quality and fun, celebrating difference and respecting everyone's contribution, working for the benefit of our community and maintaining trust, respect and collaboration.

To take a starring role you can join the Sweethearts program with a donation of $250. Download the form here to find out more.
